TJN's Own Ace of Cakes

Since the writers strike has shortened this years TV season I've been forced to turn to the Food Network for mindless entertainment. And Ace of Cakes has emerged as my favorite TV show, it's ever taken the place of ER which I've watched since the very first episode.

Recently my Ace of Cakes devotion has paid off. I was at the MBC Family Gathering (Minnesota Baptist Conference) where other MBC churches gather together to connect and hear about what's happening in the conference. While at the gathering each table (probably about 18-20 of them) each had a contest to decorate a plain white frosted cake with the number 150 on it. We were all given the same decorating materials and about 5 minutes to decorate our cakes.

In light of the theme for the next year I we decided to be forward thinking. So we came up with the idea of turning the 150 into 501 to signify longevity and we included part of this year's theme on to the cake. I don't like to toot my own horn but this was my idea. Then with the creative handywork of Sheila DeChantel, Mary Piggot, and Julie Steiff we submitted our cake. Feeling pretty proud of our cake I felt great anticipation as we awaited the results. It was like sweet sweet music to my ears when I heard that the "501 Cake" was the winner. It was the first time a creative concept of mine had won something. I was ready to apply to be one of Duff's cake decorators on Ace of Cakes.

But now that's I've come down to earth I'm just very happy that we won 11 certificates each worth $10 off at any Trout Lake Camp this summer. So if you are planning on going to Trout Lake Camp then come and see me and I can get you $10 off your registration.
